Covid Safety Protocol: Main Beach Volleyball Club’s number one priority at this time is maintaining the health and safety of the athletes, coaches, and families. Main Beach is adhering to the most up-to-date Santa Cruz County, CDC & State of California guidelines regarding safety, sanitation, and social distancing requirements. We will be following the safety protocol provided by the county of Santa Cruz Health Services Agency, the California Department of Public Health, and the CDC. With that, the following rules will be in place at every team practice/event in order to minimize risk and the spread of Covid-19. Group Safety:

  • No more than 13 per team.

  • Coaches will stick with their players.

***Otherwise sanctioned by the director and required to wearing a mask at all times.

  • Maintain a safe distance of 6 feet or more while in team huddles, on water breaks, waiting in line during a drill, chalk talk, and any other times when players are not actively participating in practice.

Health and Safety Checks:

  • It is very important that all parents and legal guardians keep players at home if they are sick or have a fever or flu-like symptoms. We will check temperatures upon check-in each day. If a player’s temperature is above 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit for the forehead thermometer, they will be asked to set aside for 15 minutes to take their temperature again. If there is no change, they will not be able to participate. They can return to the program after they have been fever-free for 72 hours (without the use of medicine) AND have waited a full 10 days since the onset of symptoms.

  • During practice: If a player begins exhibiting any signs of illness during practice they will be physically separated from the rest of the group and will be required to wear a face mask until they can be picked up.

Screening questions:

  • Before practice coaches will perform screening questions to ensure team safety.

  • Parents/Guardians will be required to check players in.

  • Practice Pre-screening Questions

  • Mask will be required before and after all practices and entering all facilities whether indoor or outdoor.

  • All coaching staff will wear masks at all times.

  • Please do not forget your mask – No excuses (Main Beach has a limited supply of masks on hand)

  • All equipment will be sanitized before and after each practice.

  • Players will wash and sanitize their hands before and after each practice.

  • Hand sanitizer will be provided and players will sanitize hands during practice and in between drills/water breaks etc.

  • After ball handling, shared balls will be sanitized throughout the practice.

Minimized Contact:

  • No sharing waters or food.

  • No high fives, just air fives.

  • Maintain a safe distance while watching players at practice.

  • Coaches will use their judgment to tell parents or other spectators to back up further to follow our safety protocol.

  • While in the gym there will be no parents or other spectators allowed.

Main Beach Volleyball Club has been following the recommendations to maintain a safe environment from the California Department of Public Health and the County of Santa Cruz Health Service Agency for the reopening of business. With that said, we seem to be headed into safer days where parks and beaches are opening and athletes are beginning to head back into the gyms throughout California Social distancing: Here is the latest information from the County of Santa Cruz Health Service Agency,
